These Terms of Use outline the operational standards, system integrity rules, rate limits, and behavioral policies governing interactions with Ourl.in (ourl.in), our official Google Chrome Extension, developer APIs, and URL shortening infrastructure.
Ourl.in provides an automated URL shortening and technical redirection service. We do not control or endorse external destination web pages. Users must comply with our Acceptable Use & Abuse Prevention Policy.
1. Fair Use Standards & Quotas
To preserve platform availability, prevent denial-of-service, and protect server health, we enforce standard operational limits:
- Guest Quota: Unauthenticated visitors may shorten up to 25 URLs per IP address per rolling 24-hour window.
- Registered User Quotas: Creating a verified free account unlocks expanded link quotas, analytics reporting, QR code generation, and Ourl Tree profile customization.
- Bulk URL Operations: The web and Chrome extension bulk shortening tools are limited to 50 URLs per batch to prevent browser tab crashes and network congestion.
- API Rate Limits: Programmatic requests via developer API tokens are subject to documented requests-per-minute thresholds. High-frequency automated scraping or flooding without authorization triggers automatic rate-limiting and temporary firewall blocking.
2. Platform Security & Infrastructure Integrity
You agree not to perform or attempt any of the following actions against Ourl.in systems:
- Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of our servers, databases, or networks without prior written consent;
- Interfering with, disrupting, or overwhelming our servers via distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) or SYN flooding;
- Circumventing authentication tokens, CSRF protection, rate limits, or CAPTCHA verification;
- Reverse-engineering, decompiling, or disassembling any portion of the service or Chrome extension binaries;
- Deploying web crawlers or automated scrapers in a manner that degrades system performance.
3. Automated Scanning & Abuse Detection
All links submitted to Ourl.in are subject to automated security analysis (reputation lookups, redirect-chain evaluation, and heuristic scoring) as detailed in our Acceptable Use Policy. Submitting links designed to exploit or attack Ourl.in infrastructure results in immediate account suspension and network restrictions.
4. Google Chrome Extension Operational Guidelines
The official Ourl.in Chrome Extension operates in compliance with Google Chrome Web Store policies:
- Tab URLs are inspected and shortened only upon explicit user action (clicking the popup or context menu shortcut).
- Daily converted links saved under "Today's Activity" are stored locally on your device and automatically flush on every new calendar day.
- Tampering with the extension code, spoofing client headers, or bypassing device identification is prohibited.
5. Enforcement & Appeals Process
If an account or link is flagged for violating usage quotas, automated flooding, or prohibited content:
- We may temporarily throttle, suspend, or terminate the offending account or API key;
- Violating short links will be immediately deactivated;
- Appeals: If you believe your link or account was flagged in error, you may file an appeal by contacting support@ourl.in with your account email and operational context. We review appeals in good faith.
6. Reporting Abusive Use
To report abusive short links, spam campaigns, or phishing attempts, please submit a report through our Contact & Abuse Reporting Center or email support@ourl.in.
