Acceptable Use & Abuse Prevention Policy

This Acceptable Use & Abuse Prevention Policy ("AUP") defines the rules and restrictions applicable to all users, account holders, developers, and automated clients interacting with Ourl.in (ourl.in), our official Google Chrome Extension, developer APIs, and URL shortening services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Explicit Catalog of Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Service directly or indirectly to generate, mask, redirect to, or distribute short links for any of the following categories:

By creating a short URL on Ourl.in, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Continuous Responsibility: You remain strictly responsible for the destination content of any link created under your account or session throughout its entire operational lifecycle.
• Prohibition on Post-Creation Cloaking: You must not configure server-side redirects, conditional user-agent cloaking, or domain name changes that redirect visitors to content prohibited by this AUP.
• Automated Re-Evaluation: Ourl.in reserves the right to periodically, automatically, or manually inspect destination endpoints, HTTP redirect chains, and final destination landing pages.
• Immediate Takedown upon Mutation: If a previously clean destination begins redirecting to malware, phishing, scam portals, or prohibited content, Ourl.in may immediately disable the link, block the destination domain, and suspend associated accounts without prior notice.

3. Security Scanning & Abuse Detection Authorization

To safeguard internet users and ensure compliance with statutory due-diligence standards under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the IT Intermediary Rules, 2021 (as amended), Ourl.in may deploy automated and manual security mechanisms. By submitting any URL to our platform, you authorize Ourl.in to perform:

• Domain and URL reputation inquiries against known threat intelligence feeds and blocklists;
• HTTP/HTTPS redirect-chain verification, header inspection, and automated destination reputation checks;
• Algorithmic spam scoring, heuristic pattern matching, and rate-limit surveillance;
• Traffic anomaly and click-velocity monitoring to detect botnets, smishing, or abuse campaigns;
• IP address, user-agent, device identifier, and API client risk profiling.

Non-Disclosure of Detection Models: To prevent malicious actors from reverse-engineering or circumventing our defense systems, Ourl.in is not required to disclose proprietary security criteria, threat thresholds, machine-learning models, or internal detection rules.

4. Prohibition on Circumvention

Any attempt to evade, bypass, or undermine our security controls is a material breach of our Terms and will result in immediate termination. You are strictly prohibited from:

• Generating replacement short URLs pointing to destination URLs, domains, or endpoints that have previously been suspended or blocked;
• Registering secondary, disposable, or surrogate user accounts to bypass rate limits, quotas, or account restrictions;
• Using rotating proxies, VPNs, spoofed device identifiers, or automated solvers to evade rate limiting or security verification;
• Obfuscating destination URLs through multi-tier shorteners (chain-shortening) to conceal prohibited endpoints;
• Exploiting platform APIs, webhooks, or endpoints to flood our infrastructure or harvest data.

Ourl.in reserves the full right to associate multiple accounts, API keys, network ranges, and device identifiers for enforcement purposes.

5. Enforcement Framework & Discretionary Warnings

Ourl.in applies proportionate but decisive enforcement actions depending on the severity and nature of the infraction:

• Link Suspension / Deletion: The offending short link is deactivated immediately. Visitors attempting to access the short URL will encounter a safety warning or standard error page.
• Domain & URL Pattern Restrictions: The destination domain or URL pattern may be blocked or restricted for such period as Ourl.in reasonably determines necessary to prevent further dissemination of abusive content.
• Account Suspension & Termination: Abusive user accounts are terminated immediately. All associated links are deactivated.
• API Credential Revocation: Abusive API tokens will be revoked with immediate effect.
• Network & Device Restrictions: We may restrict IP addresses, IP subnets, device IDs, or autonomous systems (ASNs) associated with abusive activity for such period as we reasonably determine necessary.
• No Guaranteed Warning: While Ourl.in may issue warnings for minor procedural infractions at its sole discretion, we do not guarantee prior notice or warnings for security threats, phishing, malware, child exploitation, financial scams, or intentional circumvention.

6. Repeat Offender Policy

Ourl.in maintains a strict Repeat Offender Policy. Users or entities that repeatedly engage in confirmed policy violations or deliberately attempt to circumvent security controls may face:

1. Immediate deactivation of all user accounts linked to that person or organization;
2. Revocation of all current and future API access privileges;
3. Comprehensive restriction of associated destination domains, accounts, and network identifiers for such duration as reasonably necessary;
4. Ineligibility for refunds or service restoration.

7. Law Enforcement Cooperation & Statutory Disclosures

Ourl.in complies with applicable statutory obligations under the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Code of Criminal Procedure / Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and applicable digital intermediary regulations:

• We cooperate with authorized law enforcement, judicial, cybercrime, and regulatory authorities upon receipt of valid court orders, subpoenas, statutory notices, or emergency preservation requests.
• In circumstances where permitted or required by applicable law—such as situations involving imminent physical harm, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, or emergency life safety—Ourl.in may disclose relevant forensic records and proactively notify competent statutory authorities.
• To protect criminal investigations and comply with statutory confidentiality, we may not notify affected users if disclosure is prohibited by law or could compromise an ongoing inquiry.

8. Abuse Reporting & Appeals Process

If you encounter a short URL created on Ourl.in that violates this policy, please submit an abuse report through our dedicated Contact & Abuse Reporting Center. Please include the short URL, destination URL, reason, and supporting evidence.

Appeals: If you believe a link or account was suspended in error (e.g. false-positive categorization), you may file an appeal by contacting support@ourl.in with documentation verifying domain ownership and link legitimacy. Review is conducted in good faith; however, submitting an appeal does not guarantee reactivation.
